WEST BROMWICH ALBION PROGRESS TO NATIONAL FINAL

West Bromwich Albion U16 girls football team won the Tesco Cup Central England Regional Final at Perry Barr, Birmingham on Sunday. The girls now advance to the National Final of the Tesco Cup at the Walkers Stadium, Leicester on 17 May. West Bromwich U16 girls faced Radcliffe Olympic from Nottinghamshire in the final, winning 2-0.

Former England player Mark Walters and England women's player Marianne Spacey attended the tournament, and selected West Bromwich U16s players for two individual awards. Gurjit Dulay from the U16s was awarded ‘Player of the Tournament' for their age category and teammate Ashleigh Neville was awarded ‘Best Forward'.

Mark Walters and Marianne Spacey selected the following players to win individual awards:

Best Goalkeeper: Sian Crewe (Leicester City Ladies)
Best Defender: Demi Draycott (Radcliffe Olympic)
Best Midfielder: Emily Roberts (Lincoln Girls)
Best Forward: Ashleigh Neville (West Bromwich Albion)
Player of the Tournament: Gurjit Dulay (West Bromwich Albion)

Tesco Cup Ambassador Mark Walters commented: ‘The Tesco Cup is a fantastic competition, giving youngsters the opportunity to play on a National and International Stage. I have seen a great standard of football at the Central England Regional Final and I look forward to seeing how the teams get on at the National Final in May.'
