WEST HAM U16 GIRLS REACH TESCO CUP ENGLAND FINAL
West Ham United U16 Girls won the Tesco Cup Southern Regional Final on Saturday at the Richardson Evans Memorial Playing Fields, Putney, South West London. The girls will now advance to the English National Final of the Tesco Cup to be held at the Walkers Stadium, Leicester, on Sunday, May 17.
West Ham United were undefeated throughout the round robin stages of the tournament and in the final faced Canterbury Girls, winning the game 2-0.
England and Chelsea star Casey Stoney, who attended the event in Putney, selected promising local footballer Maddie Thomas from West Ham, Player of the Tournament.
Casey Stoney also selected the following players to receive awards:
Best Goalkeeper: Alesha Simms (Canterbury Girls)
Best Defender: Kayleigh Griffiths (Silver Ends)
Best Midfielder:Maddie Thomas ( West Ham United)
Best Forward:Holly Griffin (West Ham United)
