BOLTON'S REEBOK STADIUM TO HOST UK FINAL

The 2009 Tesco Cup UK Final will take place on Sunday, May 24 at the Reebok Stadium, home of premiership club, Bolton Wanderers.

The modern, all-seater stadium will host the Tesco Cup UK Final for the second time, having first been the selected venue in 2006. The Final will see ‘national' teams in three age groups do battle to be crowned UK champions, in what promises to be an exciting finale to the 2008/09 season.

The Tesco Cup, now in its fourth year, is a home nations grassroots football competition across three age groups: U13 boys, U14 girls and U16 girls. Working in conjunction with the FA and local communities, the Tesco Cup aims both to improve the skills of youth footballers and encourage more young people to play the game.

Over 3,700 teams have entered the 2008/09 Tesco Cup, competing at County, Regional and then National level in a bid to represent England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland at the Reebok Stadium in May, where they will be hoping to lift the winners' trophies.

Jan Foster, Corporate Responsibility Manager at Tesco said, ‘ We are delighted to return to the Reebok Stadium for the Tesco Cup UK Final. The 2008/09 Tesco Cup has seen a record number of participants; with eight County FAs entering teams for the first time, and the UK final will be a thrilling end to the season.'

The English Teams will be looking to improve their performances in the 2009 UK final. In 2008, teams from Northern Ireland won the U13 boys and U14 girls, while Scotland's representatives took the U16 girls title. The 2008 Tesco Cup Final took place at the City of Manchester Stadium.
